CJeofogwaCTecFcnus Znc Page 4 <br /> Soil Investigation Report <br /> Bank of Stockton <br /> Project No 443 2 <br /> June 19, 1996 <br /> 1 <br />' 2.4 San Joaquin OES Records <br /> The records on file at this agency pertain to cherrucals and safety procedure being <br />' used by Cutter Lumber and do not appear to relate to past events that may have <br /> impacted the soil and groundwater <br />' 3.0 SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION <br /> Based on an interview with Mr Russ Russel, the location of the former "oil supply" <br />' building was determined Mr Russell identified a concrete slab on the site as being <br /> the foundation of the building The dimensions of the slab were consistent with <br /> those indicated in the Assessor's record (12x20 feet) In order to help determine if <br />' the UST or ASTs could have leaked and become the source of gasoline detected in <br /> the water well, a total of five 10 foot deep borings were installed in the vicinity of <br /> the former building The soil borings were install by Geological Technics personnel <br /> using hand auger boring and sampling equipment <br /> Soil samples were collected from the borings and selected samples were submitted <br /> for analysis of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) and diesel <br /> (TEPH-D), and for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and (BTEX) Two of the samples <br /> I were also tested for total lead content and for methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) <br /> and total lead <br /> I3.1 Soil Boring Installation <br /> On June 25, 1996 Geological Technics Inc personnel arrived at the location with <br /> hand auger and soil sampling equipment to perform the field work necessary to <br /> complete the investigation A measuring wheel was used to assist in locating and <br /> measuring the locations of the 5 boring locations The five soil borings (B1 thru B5) <br /> were advanced at locations untended to penetrate the areas beneath the former 2,000 <br /> gallon AST, the area of the former pump island and several areas where it was <br /> believed possible the UST may have been located (see Figure 2, Appendix A) <br /> Originally, four borings were planned to be advanced to a depth of 20 feet for the <br /> purpose of helping to determine if former tanks had leaked Since fuel impacted soil <br /> was encountered at a much shallower depth, however, the decision was made in the <br /> field to reduce depth of the borings, and to drill one additional 10 foot boring in an <br /> attempt to precisely Iocate the position of the UST The following table lists the soil <br /> borings, and their locations <br />
