The following table describes the construction of
the air sparge wells:
Casing 2" Schedule 40 PVC
Screen 0.010 Slotted Schedule 40 PVC
Screened Interval 50-45 feet below ground surface(bgs)
' Filter Pack 50-43 feet bgs
Filter Pack Material #3 Monterey sand
Bentonite Transition Seat 43-41 feet bgs
Annular Seal 43-0 feet bgs
The sparge wells are screened to expel air near the bottom or slightly below the main
' mass.
2.4 Well Development
' Since the new wells are not be used for routine groundwater sampling, it was not deemed
necessary to "developed" them, although the wells were surged by the drilling crew
. immediately after each well was set. A surge block made to gauge was used for this
purpose.
2.5 Waste Disposal
' All waste water generated during the installation of the wells was collected for recycling
by American Valley Waste Oil along with monitoring well purge water. A copy of the
manifest was previously submitted with quarterly monitoring information.
Waste soil cuttings were temporarily stored in an on-site stockpile. After waste
' characterization, Manley & Sons Truck, a licensed hazardous waste hauler transported the
36 yards of soil in bulk trucks to the Forward Landfill, a class II facility located in
Manteca on June 2, 2004. A photocopy of the manifest is attached as Appendix C.
1
1
' 2937 Veneman Ave.,#13240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
