WORK PLAN FOR CHARACTERIZATION AND REMEDIATION
' OF STOCKPILED SOILS
AND TANK PIT EXCAVATION BACKFILLING
' MANNA PRO FACILITY
4004 ELDORADO STREET
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
' JULY 30, 1992
10 INTRODUCTION
Groundwater Technology, Inc has prepared and submitted this Work Plan for Characterization and
' Remediation of Stockpiled Soils and Tank Pit Excavation Backfillin to present the planned scope of
work to be performed by Groundwater Technology Inc at the Manna Pro Corporation (Manna Pro)
Facility, located at 4004 EI Dorado Street in Stockton, California (Figure t) The objectives of this
current scope of work are as follows
Using the results of soil samples collected pursuant to the soil sampling plan
described herein as Task 1, characterize and segregate the stockpiled soil (Figure 2)
based upon predetermined "target" criteria into sod that will immediately be returned
to the tank pit excavation and sod that will require remediation prior to placement in
the excavation
Backfill the tank pit excavation with soil meeting the target criteria Backfilling and
compaction testing will be performed by licensed contractors under the supervision
of a qualified engineer
■ Remediate on-site that sod not meeting the target criteria using above-ground
I uncontrolled aeration assisted by enhanced biodegradation Above-ground
remediation of the impacted soil will proceed until concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbons in the soil meet the target criteria After these target concentrations
are achieved, the rernediated sod will be used to complete backfilling of the existing
tank excavation
Unless otherwise approved as such by San Joaquin County Public Health Service (SJCPHS) or the,
Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB), the target criteria described above are not intended
to constitute final cleanup levels by Manna Pro Further remediation of soil returned to the
. excavation will be accomplished by in-situ soil vapor extraction as part of future remediation work on
the site L
43 GROUNDWATER
TECHNOLOGY, INC
