PHS/EHD has the following comments
regarding the recommendations contained in the report:
1. A groundwater investigation will be required due to the fact that
i contamination in the pit has been documented down to 20 feet and San
Joaquin County Flood Control Maps (August '86) document
groundwater level at 20 feet.
2. It is recommended that the overexcavation of contaminated soil
should continue until the pit is clean (4 sides and bottom). Borings
should be considered on the perimeter of the excavation in order
to define both the vertical and horizontal limits of contamination.
3. If it becomes necessary to abandon in place hydrocarbon contaminated
soil, an estimate of the mass-volume of contaminated soil remaining in
situ should be reported to PHS/EHD.
A I)Msion of San Joaquin County Health rare bmv=
