Work Plan
Stewart's Beacon
i
Project No.03-17.1.2
--, March 12,1990
Page: 9
w•
The water levels in the monitoring wells h1W.3 will be monitored on a twice a
week basis for the duration of the project to evaluate the development of the
cane of depression resulting from;the ground water extraction.
4.0 GROUND WATER MONITORING SCHEDULE
The ground water will need monitoring after the interim remediation is corr lete in order to
evaluate the influence the pumping had over an extended period of time. The monitoring will 1t'34
consist of 3 times a year(every 4 months),sampling of 4 monitoring wells a,id analyses of the
samples for BTEX and gasoline. Ground water gradient measurements will also be made at l
these times and the data will be submitted under a cover letterto the cent and the regulatory }
agents. client ;,_:
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM
The following measures will be taken to insure that a high quality study is conducted and that
—'' cross contamination does not occur.
54 Equiptnent
The monitoring well will be drilled with a 5 inch(i.d.)hollow stem continuous flight
auger, owned and operated by Osterberg and Stewart, Inc:-Soil samples will be
_ collected using a 2 inch(o.d.)modified California split spoon sari;'.o]er lined with brass
sample tubes.
4 5.2 Boring
LOP
Detailed logs will be made of each boring. The information noted will include: sample
depths, blow counts, horizons of detectable contamination(detected by field methods),
soil classification utilizing the. Unified Soil Classification System and sediment
description (color, texture, composition, hardness, moisture content, and post-
depositionalchanges that have occurred in the sediments).
5.3 Soil Sampling
------.._—_-- -_--_-. _----_Soil-samples-will-be-collected-at-5-foot-intervals and et selected horizons to - ------ -- -- -- ---------
` characterize the sediment types and in the monitoring wells just above the water table
for laboratory analysis. Specific stratigraphic horizons may also:be sampled to
provide pertinent information. One sample from just above the saturated zone in each
well will be submitted for laboratory analysis. Brass sample.tubes will be sealed with
