l WELL DEST. , 05-03-93
All wells have machine slotted PVC 0 .02 inch screen. MW1 and MW2
the screens were installed from the 28 foot depth to the 8 foot
depth, MW3 the screen was installed from the 29 foot depth to the
9 foot depth and the MW4 screen was installed from the 14 foot
depth to the 9 foot depth. The sand pack in MW1, MW2 and MW3 is
medium aquarium sand and the sand- pack in MW4 is #3 Monterey.
The sand pack was brought up to two feet above the top of screen
in MW1 and MW4 and three feet above the screen in MW2 and MW3 .
Bentonite and cement annular seals are above the sand packs, see
Appendix A.
WELL DESTRUCTIONS
We proposed to pressure grout the 'wells in place :
1) Connect grout pump tubing to casing.
2) Pressure grout casing and sand pack with neat cement.
3) Remove grout pump tubing from casing, let stand one
hour.
4) If grout has dropped in the casing, add appropriate
grout to fill casing.
5) Drill out the base of the traffic box into the neat
cement annular seal.
6) Back fill the traffic box and area drilled out with
concrete flush to surface and finish.
VOLUME OF CEMENT TO FILL CASING AND SAND PACK.
Area of a circle = err?
Volume of casing = height x area of circle.
Volume of sand pack = area of sand pack - area of
casing x height of sand pack x 30% porosity.
Area of 2 inch casing converted to feet = ( (2/2) 2 x 3 . 14) / (12 x
12) _
3 :14/144 = 0 . 022 ft2
Area of 8 inch boring converted to feet = ( (8/2) 2 x 3 . 14) /144
50 . 3/144 = 0 .35 ft2
Area of 10 inch boring converted to feet = ( (10/2) 2 x 3 . 14) /144
78 . 5/144 = 0 .55 ft2
page 2
