r
I
_.. VERIFICATION SAMPLING OF TANK FIELD
WEGE has contracted West Hazmat Drilling (C57 #554979) to drill
and sample one roil boring r^ the 15 foot dPpt'i west of the UST
and drill, sample and install a 2" PVC well northeast of the UST,
see Figure 3 . Depth to ground water for this site ranges from y,
11.7' to 12 . 9' at monitor well MW1.
Starting at the 11 foot depth of each boring, samples will be
obta?ned to top of ground water, and field screened for total
vola•ile organic vapors using a HNu photoionizing detector with a
10 .2 electror, volt bulb. The sample exhibiting the highest
response from the HNu will be contained in a 2" x 611 brass
sleeve, capped with aluminum foil and plastic end caps, that will
be scaled with duck tape, labeled with sample ID##, time sampled,
date sampled and analysis to be run. The sample will then be
placed in a zip-Lock baggie, sealed, and placed on ice in a
cooler and transported that day to MATRIX Environmental
Laboratories (DHS# 1676) for analysis of Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons Gas (TPH G) using GC FID (5030) and BTEX using
method 8020 as shown on Table #2, page 17 of Tri-Regional Board
staff Recommendation August 10, 1990 .
VERIFICATION OF CONTAMINANT FREE GROUND TRATER DOWN GRADIENT OF
TANK FIELD.
Monitor well (MW4) will be placed northeast of "the rank field,
developed and then sampled for TPH G, BTEX and lead, using AA
methods. At the time the sample is obtained, monitor wells MW1,
MW2, and MW3 will also be sampled. All wells will be gauged for
depth to ground water. If laboratory analysis indicates that the
ground water sampled is contaminant free, a request to destroy
all four monitor wells will be presented.
WELL CONSTRUCTION
The well will be drilled by West Hazmat (C57# 554979) under the
supervision of Western Geo-Engineers C-57 drilling contractors
license 513857 and California Registered Geologist #3037. West
Hazmat utilizing a truck mounted auger rig, with 8 inch hollow
stem augers, will drill to the eleven foot depth, then sample
from the eleven foot depth into top of ground water. All samples
recovered will be field screened with the HNu PID and described
using ASTM guidelines. Any field screened samples that indicate
contamination will be sealed, labeled, preserved (stored in a zip
lock on ice in an ice chest) and chain of custody delivered to
MATRIX Laboratories. Also, samples will be obtained from the top
of ground water and the base of the boring. These will also be
preserved and chain of custody delivered to MATRIX for analysis
for TPH G and BTEX. Once the boring has been completed, a two
inch SCH 40 F480 PVC casing with 0 . 02 inch slot will be installed
from approximately the 15 foot depth to the 10 foot depth. The
10 foot depth to surface will be cased with 2 inch blank FVC
casing. All joints are machine threaded and sealed with 0 rings.
page2
----- ---- r=
