r
VI, with cross section locations shown on Exhibit V. A post mining
topography map is provided as Exhibit'VII and typical cross sections are
shown on Exhibit.IV.
3. Describe how slopes will lie stabilized to prevent failures and.slides, earth
f flows; falling rock, and ,erosion. Working slopes will:be no greater than
those;.allowed,by Cal' OSHA and/or Federal MSIR regulations: Final
slopes will approximate those that exist-prior to mining and-in no.case will
they be greater than 2 feet.horizontal to .1 foot vertical. Typical cross
sections illustrating premining, during mining and post mining slopes ate
provided in Exhibit IV. Approximate post mining'topography is illustrated
in Exhibit VII and in cross section in Exhibit VI. Cross section locations
are shown in Exhibit V. Due to the relatively thin layers of overburden,
topsoil and the aggregate reserves itself, high*all heights will be relatively
small, often only about 10 feet.
D. Impoundments: Describe how impoundments will.be reclaimed (e.g., rued
dewatered, capped, revegetated, removed, etc. — No impoundments are planned
for the Permit Area_
E. Drains e: Describe provisions for natural draina a and how erosion of disturbed
land and sedimentation will be controlled during,.cxcavation and afterfinal
reclamation (e.g., revegetation, rip rap, sedimentation basins, berms, ditches.
water bars, silt screens regrading, etc.). —Mining activities in the proposed Permit
Area have been designed to contain all runoff from disturbed areas on the site.
All excavation boundaries will be sloped back into the active pit to avoid
contamination of runoff entering natural drainages that exit the property. Runoff
from disturbed slopes will be retained on the site.
KRC has an NPDES Storm Water Discharge Permit issued by the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB). The associated storm
water pollution control plan includes provisions for constructing and maintaining
Best Management Practices to control erosion and prevent significant quantities
of sediment from leaving the site. The CVRWQCB has also adopted waste
discharge requirements for the project. KRC intends to modify both the NPDES
permit and waste discharge requirements, as needed, to include the new Permit
Area proposed in this permit application.
F. Disposition of Old Equipment: Discuss the disposition of equipment, buildings,
structures, etc. — No buildings or other permanent structures are planned for the
proposed Permit Area.
c. Revegetation
Explain topsoil (or soil substitute) redistribution methods, including volumes of
materials to be redistributed, equipment and methods for transport, methods for
Distribution Copy Page 12 of 14 August 2, 2006
