r
Development of the alternative site would increase
nd
for fire protection services to the same extent as developmentofthe proposed project site. As stated in the Final EIR
(pages 51-
52) , this demand is not expected to significantly impact the
` District's ability to provide fire protection services to the area
nor it would require additional staff or equipment.
The project as proposed by the applicant would
site wells, thus no public water systemProvided for fire
would be utilize re
fighting purposes.
At the recommendation of the Fire District, the Final ETR
suggests that the proposed project include automatic fire
sprinklers in each of the residential units. (Refer to Final EIR,
Page 49. ) Although not required by County ordinance, this
mitigation could apply to development of the alternative site and
would be an added fire protection measure. Sprinklers are set up
T to respond only to the room where a fire ignites. If the Fire
District experiences delays in responding, the sprinklers
automatically douse the fire, thereby reducing the amount of
damage that would normally occur without the benefit of
sprinklers.
Solid Waste
Solid waste collection and disposal service to both the
project site and the alternative site are provided by the Sunset
Disposal Company. Development of the alternative site is expected j
to generate a volume of solid waste similar to the volume that
would. be generated by the proposed project on the original site.
(See FEIR, page 57. ) As stated in the FEIR, representatives of
Sunset Disposal Company anticipate no difficulty in providing
services to the proposed project. No mitigations would be
necessary for either site.
Schools
Both the proposed project and the alternative project site
are located within the Lodi Unified School District (LUSD) .
Students 1
generated from the proposed project at the alternative
site would attend Davis Elementary School, Morada Middle School
and Tokay High School.
Presently, Lodi Unified School District is experiencing
a severe District-wide housing shortage. Classroom sizes
_ throughout the District average 31 students and are considered by
the District to be filled to capacity. Overflow students are
bussed to the nearest available school having classroom space. I'
The LUSD has enacted a funding program under AB 2926 which
requires developer fees in the maximum amount of $1.50 per square
foot of conditioned residential space to support new school
construction and reconstruction.
