V
to be adequate. All internal streets and cul-de-sacs would be
required to meet current Uniform Fire Codes. If a public water
system is not provided the use of indoor sprinkler systems in
each unit is recommended as an appropriate fire protection measure
since rivate wells would not provide an adequate source of
water. l
3. Suggested Mitigation Measures
a. Although not required by City ordinance, automatic fire
sprinklers should be provided in each unit as an added fare
prevention measure if a community water system is not provided .
Solid Waste
1 . Environmel3tal Setting
Solid waste collection and disposal services in the project
area are provided by the Sunset Disposal Company . All solid waste
collected in the area is taken to the Lovelace Transfer Station on
Lovelace Road , where it is partially recycled . This transfer
station is owned and operated by San Joaquin County . Currently t+1
the capacity of this station is exceeded , but the County is
planning to expand and possibly relocate the facility to meet
future demand in the County .
From the transfer station solid waste is hauled to the
Foothill Landfill located in Linden . This landfill has a
remaining capacity of 50+ years. 18
2. Environmental Impacts
The proposed project is expected to generate approximately
5. 5 tons per month (based on 3 . 3 pounds/person/day ) .
Representatives of the Sunset Disposal Company anticipate no
difficulty in providing services to the proposed project. The
Foothill Landfill Company is expected to accommodate the projected
volume of solid waste within its remaining capacity . 19
3. Suggested Mitigatio-n Measures
No mitigations are necessary.
Schools
1 . Environmental Setting
The .proposed project is located within the Lodi Unified
School District. The District currently enrolls 20, 119 students
in its elementary , middle and high schools and its projected
enrollment for 1987/88 is 21 , 590 students. Students from the
project area would attend Davis Elementary School , Morada Middle
School and Tokay High School . The current enrollment and student
capacity of these schools is as follows :
52
