r
Soil Suitability&Nitrate Loading Study Page 4
St. Patrick's Church, Escalon, CA
Project No. 607.1
" October 14, 2009
Based on these records, it appears the septic systems in the nearby area have
operated consistently and with few repairs needed.
3.3 Existing and Proposed Septic System Usage
In the near future, a new chapel will be constructed, which will be served by a
new, dedicated septic system. The proposed new septic system for the chapel is
expected to experience minimal used limited hours of use. The proposed
_ -' chapel will have a seating capacity
4 60 p6sons. It will have two restrooms,
each with two toilets, and one of the t ' ets in the men's room will be a urinal.
+ The San Joaquin County Sewage Standards (EHD, 2003) offers guidance for
assumptions regarding septic flow rates. Accoxdi Table 6.1.,15, the
-- assumption is made that a church will prod ce 5 gal ons per day at
. :
Using this assumption, the 60-seat chapel is rodu e 300 gallons-
per-day (GPD) of raw sewage, 5 days each week.
For residential septic systems, the assumption is made that each resident
produces 70 gallons per day (GPD) of sewage. Permanent esi ence are
generally assumed to have 5 residents, yielding a sewage outpu of 350 GPD In
F1 this case, the existing 2-bedroom house is occupied by the pari and
j given the requirements of the Catholic faith, the house is un ' e y to hou as
many as five residents. The house estimate is therefore re du ed to 200 GPD.
1
t When the other proposed buildings are completed in the more uture, a
large new septic system will be constructed to serve all of those buildings,
F although the future rectory could also be served by the existing residential
k system. The following table summarizes these uses including the chapel:
F '" Building Occupancy_
a
— Cha c 60(5 da s/wk)
Church 800 Sia —only)
if !
Rectory ]0 Residents
1 School 200(5-days/wk
Administration Bldg 20 Workers(5-days/wk)
S Multi-Purpose Rm 100(2-days/wk)
F"t Convent 10 Residents
In order to load the future large septic system at a relatively constant rate, a
holding tank will be installed so that sew ag roduced—at---ak tim can be
pumped to the septic system from the tank at relatively constant onstant rate.
1MV
Fill
F
2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
