• The adjacent properties to the north of the Site are vineyards. To the west are a
nursery and a rural residence. To the east are an agricultural field and a rural
residence. To the south is Dougherty Road, followed by vineyard and an open
field. At the adjacent nursery, it appeared that the chemical storage building was
near the northeastern corner of the facility, close to the northwest corner of the
subject Site.
5.0 INTERVIEWS
5.1 Interview with Client
Randy Roget was interviewed during the site visit on August 4, 2017. At this
time, he indicated that he has owned the Site since 1981. Before that, it
belonged to his father-in-law. The land was used many years ago to grow
cherries and plums, he said. Recently, Mr. Roget has been renting out the land
to various farmers, who have grown corn, wheat, tomatoes, and other crops; the
most recent farmer was David Malitz, who grew mixed grains.
Mr. Roget stated that there have never been underground fuel tanks on the Site.
An empty 500-gallon above-ground storage tank was present years ago, but he
never used it, he said. Mr. Roget indicated that he stores herbicides and
• fertilizers in the barn, garage, and metal cargo container, all of which have
cement floors. He stated that people do dump trash on his property, but he has
never seen any hazardous materials dumped.
Regarding the structures on the Site, Mr. Roget indicated that the house is a
double-wide unit placed on the Site in 1989. The barn and garage are over 100
years old, he said. An old house was on the Site before his ownership near the
current location of the parked RV, Mr. Roget said. He stated that the domestic
well is very old, and he does not drink the water. The irrigation well was installed
in the 1970s, and the septic system in 1989.
Mr. Roget was not aware of any chemical mixing areas, buried trash, or other
environmental issues with the potential to affect the Site. He indicated that a
high-pressure natural gas pipeline runs along the northern property line, and a
natural gas main runs along the southern property line.
•
LOGE 1720 4
