This material is <br /> certified organic. It is sold to landscapers and agriculture. All material is sold well within <br /> the six month required hold time. There is a higher demand than there is supply of the <br /> finished compost. <br /> Fire Protection <br /> Valley Organics will abide by the current California Fire Code and all related standards (CFC <br /> 2010, 1908). In addition, Valley Organics will operate under the fire protection plan developed <br /> with the cooperation of the Lathrop/Manteca Rural Fire Department. <br /> Highlights of the Plan include the following operational parameters. <br /> Provide approved knox box security box to allow fire department access to the site; <br /> conduct weekly monitoring and recording of the feedstock materials in accordance with <br /> approved plan; incorporate all incoming feedstock within three (3) days of receipt, including <br /> isolation of any identified "Hot Spots"; keep piles under 25' in height, 150' in width, and <br /> 250' in length ; all access roads, including the separation between the feedstock piles, shall <br /> have an unobstructed width of not less than 20' and have an unobstructed vertical <br /> clearance of not less than 13'6" and converted to "all-weather" accessible surface; provide <br /> labeling and signage for storage of flammable liquids; provide training for employees on fire <br /> prevention. <br /> The following equipment and procedures will also be available in the event of fire: <br /> Contact local Fire Department (Lathrop/Manteca Rural) immediately; <br /> Maintain equipment on site to extinguish fire: water truck, loaders, hoses; <br /> Ensure adequate water supply on site and ability to access water: downspout, sprinklers; <br /> Provide adapter that fits with water spout and fire truck and keep accessible on site; <br /> Remove burning material from pile to designated area via loaders; <br /> Extinguish burning or hot material in smaller piles; <br /> Separate fire from equipment and other piles; <br /> Apply water to surface fires if caused by reason other than spontaneous combustion; and <br /> Provide a lock box so the Fire Department can open the gate and access the site at any <br /> time. <br /> Equipment <br /> The following equipment will be used for the upgraded facility. All of this equipment is <br /> currently on site except the water truck which will be added: one tractor, one windrow <br /> compost turner, one grinder, one dump truck, one trommel screen, two loaders, a scale and a <br /> water truck. The County will be notified of any significant equipment changes, and Valley <br /> Organics will adhere to any additional requirements at that time. <br /> 3 <br />
