PUBLIC SCHOOLS <br /> This section provides information related to existing public school facilities and services available in and to the <br /> project site.The project site currently has no operating schools. One school within Neighborhood F is operational <br /> and serves children of that portion of the MI-IMP area. <br /> Lammersville Elementary School District <br /> The project is located in the service boundaries of the Lammersville Elementary School District(LESD), which <br /> serves kindergarten through 8th grade(K-8)students from the unincorporated area of the County to the north and <br /> south of Interstate 205 (I-205)along the boundary with Alameda County. <br /> LESD currently operates two public elementary schools,Lammersville and Wicklund,which provide education <br /> for K-8 students. Lammersville School is located in the City of Tracy and was designed with a capacity for 300 <br /> students,but current attendance is 370 students. Lammersville School uses portable classrooms to provide the _ <br /> additional needed capacity.Wicklund School, located along Legacy Drive in the Mountain House development, <br /> was designed with a capacity for 875 students and current attendance is 273 students. Because of the expected <br /> growth in the service area,LESD expects Wicklund to be near or at capacity within the next 2 years. <br /> LESD plans to construct and operate two new K-8 schools in the MHMP area in Neighborhoods E and G of the <br /> Specific Plan I project area. These two new schools are anticipated to be operational in 2006 and serve 850 <br /> students each. In addition,these two schools would provide services to students in the project area until the <br /> schools planned to specifically serve the project area are constructed(Unsod 2004). <br /> Tracy Unified School District — <br /> The project is located in the Tracy Unified School District(TUSD),which provides public high school services. <br /> TUSD currently serves approximately 5,400 high school students at two comprehensive high schools and one _ <br /> continuation high school.These three high schools are all located in the City of Tracy. <br /> The closest comprehensive high school to the project site is West High School, located at 1775 West Lowell _ <br /> Avenue and approximately 6 miles from the project site. West High School was originally designed for a <br /> capacity of 2,400 students,but is currently operating with 2,900 students.West High School utilizes rented <br /> portable facilities to provide for the needed extra capacity.The second comprehensive high school operated by <br /> TUSD is Tracy High School,which has a capacity for up to 1,800 students. Tracy High School currently <br /> accommodates 2,500 students and also uses rented portable facilities for additional needed capacity(Bell 2004). <br /> In 2006,TUSD plans to begin construction of a new school facility along Lammers Road to accommodate — <br /> students in grades 6 through 12.1'USD also plans to begin the first phases of construction of a new high school <br /> facility in the Mountain House development in 2008 (Bell 2004). <br /> FIRE PROTECTION AND EMERGENCY SERVICES <br /> This section provides information related to fire protection and emergency services available in and to the College _ <br /> Park project area.The fire station in the Mountain House community has been approved. <br /> Tracy Rural Fire Protection District <br /> The Tracy Rural Fire Protection District(District)provides fire protection services to the project area through a <br /> Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Tracy.
