jr February 18,2005
NOA Project Number: E04145A
L3.5 Current Off-Site Sources of Contamination
No above-or below-ground potential or known sources of contamination to the subject property were
Cidentified from current uses of the surrounding properties, except for the following.
L A completed gas well lies approximately one-eighth of a mile to the northwest of the subject
property.
L
• An above-ground storage tank is located at the residence to the immediate east of the southeast
comer of the subject property.
LSeveral agricultural chemical dispenser tanks and a discarded underground storage tank are
r located at the residence to the immediate north of the northeast corner of the subject property.
4.0 EVALUATION OF IDENTIFIED CONTAMINATION SOURCES
L Paraquat and other agricultural chemical residues may remain on the property. Because the property
is to remain agricultural, however, and because there is no evidence that these chemicals were applied
I inappropriately, the potential presence of chemical residues on the property is not considered an
L environmental concern at this time.
Due to their apparent age,the three pole-mounted transformers on the eastern property boundary may
L contain PCB-laden mineral oil.
!' The plugged and abandoned gas well on the subject property could not be located during the site visit.
L This well is not anticipated to impact the subject property in the future.
Because of the distance from the potential off-site sources of contamination to the subject property,
L these sources are not anticipated to impact the subject property at this time.
5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
L
Given the historical uses of agricultural chemicals on the subject property, meaningful conclusions
regarding the presence or extent of such material cannot be determined without soil sampling and
L analysis.
{ The three transformers on the eastern subject property boundary should be periodically monitored for
. leakage. Should the property owners or the EHD be concerned about PCB contamination, PG&E
should be contacted to test the transformer.
L The oil staining around the well head at the northwest corner of the subject property should be cleaned
up,and a well service should be consulted to address possible maintenance issues at the well.
E
L
11
L
L
