it Surface and Subsurface Contamor lon Report
23403 Hansen Road,Tracy,CA
r.
ground surface, based upon information from reports published by the San Joaquin County Flood
` Control District. Based upon site topography and its location, shallow groundwater beneath the site
would be expected to flow northeast.
3.0 POTENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS
3.1 Potential Non-point Sources of Hazardous Materials
Based upon a review of aerial photographs and a questionnaire filled out by the current property
owner, the property has not been fanned since at least 1982. It is unlikely therefore, that residual
pesticides would be considered a potential source of hazardous materials. Based upon the EDR
database report, no known regional sources of contamination are present. A copy of the owner's CZ i
questionnaire is included in Attachment 5 and a copy of the EDR database report is included in
` Attachment 6.
3.2 Potential Point Sources of Hazardous Materials
r.
No evidence of surface spilling, underground tanks, above ground tanks, or chemical storage areas
were observed during the site reconnaissance. A small tractor is parked along the northern property( ?31
.. boundary. The current resident indicated that the tractor belonged to the adjacent neighbor. The
tractor was in good condition with no sign of leakage. The current resident also indicated that he had \
no knowledge of any storage of chemicals or potentially hazardous materials on the property. (?J 2)
ba
Some concrete debris is located in the southern portion of the dry surface drainage at the western
boundary of the property. The debris generally ranged in size from fist-sized to basketball-sized
blocks and is not considered a significant source of potential contamination. However, powdered or
dissolved concrete could result in elevated pH levels in soil and/or water. Copies of photographs taken
during the site inspection are included in Attachment 2.
The residence was apparently constructed some time before 1982, but after the mid-1970s,based upon
a review of aerial photographs. Houses constructed prior to 1978 may contain lead-based paint
hazards (paint, dust, or soil). Houses constructed prior to 1977 may contain asbestos-containing
building materials in insulation, ceiling/floor tiles, and/or exterior siding. However, neither the
property owner nor the current tenant had any specific knowledge of asbestos or lead-based paint
hazards associated with the residence.
San Joaquin County Environmental Health (EHD) was contacted regarding the history of the water rr
` supply well and/or the septic system. No information was available in EHD's records regarding either l
the well or the septic system. The City of Tracy Engineering Department indicated by telephone that
well and/or septic permits on Hansen Road are handled by the County and, therefore, the City would
` not have any records. Neither the current owner nor the resident, when questioned, had any specific
information regarding construction details of the well or the location of the septic system. Although
r the presence of the water supply wells may provide a potential conduit for vertical migration of surface
contaminants, there is no evidence of any surface contamination at the property.
r
6y G:\GROUNDZE\PHASEI\LimVimtsgsum.doc
L
