Page 6 %.- 1%-/
Approximate 80-Acre Property
September 25, 2001
Job No. 1107-013
Radon
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas. Radon results from the natural decay of uranium.
The primary route of exposure to radon is via inhalation. In an open environment, radon readily
dissipates.
Radon levels of less than 4.0 pCi/L may produce some increase in the risk of occurrence of lung
cancer; however, further reduction of such concentrations may be difficult or impossible to achieve.
Available information indicates that of the 20 households studied in San Joaquin County, radon
concentrations in the first floor levels averaged 2.53 pCi/L; basement levels averaged 2.05 pCi/L.
Asbestos
The last ban of the manufacture of a friable (ACBM) asbestos-containing building material was in
1978; the presence of ACBM is generally only considered a significant concern in buildings
constructed before 1980. The on-site buildings were apparently constructed prior to 1953.
Lead-Based Paint
The EPA considers lead-based paints to be a source of lead exposure to children. Lead-based paint
normally becomes a public health issue when painted surfaces (especially in older residential
structures) become significantly damaged or deteriorated; we observed no such conditions during
our recent reconnaissance of the property. The sampling of potential lead-based paint has been
outside the scope of this study.
Utilities
Natural Gas/Electricity
The Pacific Gas and Electric Company(PG&E)provides electric service to the general site vicinity.
We area not aware of any natural gas service to the area.
Sewage Disposal
Sewage for the on-site residence discharges to a septic system on the property. We are not aware of
any problems associated with the septic system.
Drinking Water
Drinking water in the site is supplied by an on-site water well. We were not able to obtain specifics
(i.e. construction, screened interval, depth, etc.) regarding the water well.
PRESENT ADJACENT SITE USE
The subject property is located within a historical agricultural and rural residential area
southeasterly of the City of Lodi in San Joaquin County, California. The approximate 80-acre
property is generally bounded by East Harney Lane to the north, and by agricultural land and
vacant pasture to the east, west, and south. A rural residence and large pond were observed
westerly and adjacent to the northwest corner of the property. Vacant dry farmland is apparent
northerly of the property across Harney Lane. Our reconnaissance identified no significant
environmental concerns or conditions with respect to adjacent or nearby properties.
