Soil Suitability Study** APN: 207-290-10** Parcel 1=10.08 Acres,Parcel 2, 3 & 4=
14108 Henry Road, Oakdale CA, 95361 *** 10.00 Acres, 40.08 Acres Total
The subsoil begins at about 10 to 15 inches, is slightly lighter brown but otherwise
has about the same characteristics as the surface. Normally the soil is six feet or more in
depth.
Hanford soils occupy level to gently sloping alluvial fans and flood plain
topography. They are smooth and easily irrigated.
Normally drainage of both surface and subsoil is good and erosion is negligible.
These soils produce grass, herbaceous plants, with willows, cottonwoods and oaks
where moisture is available.
These soils are highly valued for agriculture and produce a wide variety of crops.
Most soils are irrigated.
Hanford Sandy Loam has a Storie rating of 95 percent and is one of the most
productive soils in San Joaquin County.
MADERA SANDY LOAM
Madera soils in Parcels 1 and 2 are brown or grayish-brown, maturely developed
terrace soils derived from mixed but predominately granitic material. They are developed
under conditions of low rainfall (9 to 15 inches), mild winter temperatures and long, hot,
dry summers.
The surface soil to a depth of about eight (8) inches is an easily crumbled brown
sandy loam with granular structure and has a moderately acid reaction (pH 5.3). The
moisture equivalent is 12.81 percent.
From 8 to 22 inches the soil is somewhat redder than the surface and it is compact.
From 22 to 34 inches the soil becomes more yellowish and the prismatic structure
is more pronounced. Some time is usually encountered and the pH is 7.7.
From 34 to 49 inches, there is silica or lime cemented hardpan or yellowish- or
brownish-gray color, which contains some lime near the surface.
Below the hardpan is a pale brown, massive, slightly calcareous, sandy loam.
It is in very gently sloping or gently undulating lower terraces topography.
Surface drainage is good. The dense hardpan layers restrict subsoil drainage.
The University of California publication entitled"Soils of San Joaquin County,
California, United States Department of Agricultural Soil Conservation Service", issued
Gene Benedix, 30407 Grooms Road,Oakdale CA 95361 4
