r. .me
Soil Suitability Study** APN: 207-290-10**Parcel 1=10.08 Acres,Parcel 2, 3 & 4=
14108 Henry Road, Oakdale CA, 95361 *** 10.00 Acres,40.08 Acres Total
October 1992, lists Honcut Sandy Loam, 0 to 2 percent slopes. as the soil classification
that will be encountered on the subject property.
HONCUT SANDY LOAM, 0 to 2 PERCENT SLOPES
Honcut Sandy Loam is a very deep, well-drained soil on alluvial fans. Typically
the surface layer is brown and yellowish-brown sandy loam. In some areas the surface
layer is fine sandy loam, coarse sandy loam or gravelly sandy loam.
Permeability is moderately rapid and available water capacity is moderate.
The effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. Runoff is slow and the hazard of
water erosion is slight. The rate of water intake in irrigated areas is 1.5 inches per hour.
The hazard of soil blowing is moderate.
The soil is good for irrigated crops, orchard and vineyards. Land management
considerations include the hazard of wind blowing.
Chiseling or sub soiling of the soil breaks up the hardpan. There are few
limitations for home site development.
The characteristics of the soil to be encountered at various depths below the
ground surface are as follows:
HONCUT SANDY LOAM,O to 2 PERCENT SLOPES
Depth Liquid Plasticity Percent Permeability Shrink-
In Inches Material Limit Index Clay (Inches/Hour) Swell
V -21" Sandy Loam 25 -35 5 - 15 7- 12 2.0-6.0 Low
21" -60" Coarse Sandy 40-60 20 - 35 7 - 15 2.0 - 6.0 Low
Percolation Tests: On April 2 &3, 2003, four(4) shallow,three(3) feet deep, percolation
test holes, SPH 1, 2, 3 &4 were excavated. One(1) 3-feet deep percolation test hole was
excavated on each of the planned four(4)parcels. The locations of the percolation test
holes are shown on the attached"Percolation Test Hole Location Map". Perched water
was encountered in each of the excavated percolation test holes. After a couple of days the
perched water disappeared from percolation test holes, SPH 3 &4 but the perched water
continued to remain in Percolation test holes, SPH 1 &2. During a phone discussion of
the perched water condition on the planned four(4)parcels,Mike Huggins,
Representative of the Environmental Health Department determined2hat both shallow and
deep percolation testing would be required on all four(of the planned parcels.
Inclement weather then set in and the 25' deep maximum percolation test holes,
DPH 1, 2, 3 &4,were not excavated until May 8, 2003. Deep percolation test holes,DPH
1, 2, 3 &4, were excavated to depths of 19.85', 19.40', 20.40' and 16.05' respectively and
then tested formally later. Five(5) other deep percolation test holes,DPH1A,DPH2A,
Gene Benedix, 30407 Grooms Road,Oakdale CA 95361 s
