Sievers Soil Suitability Study
Page 3
However, there are several neighbors within a 1/4 mile radius of the subject property, all of which are utilizing
on site septic systems. These neighbors were interview and a summary of these interviews is presented next.
OWNER: Sullivan
ADDRESS: 27250 Mackville Rd
LOCATION: 1/4 mile north of proposed homesite.
AGE OF HOUSE: 12 years
SEPTIC SYSTEM: Yes, consists of a septic tank, 2 leach lines and 2, 25 foot deep dry wells. System
functions well and has experienced no problems during life of it.
OWNER: Cutting
ADDRESS: 19139 E Liberty Rd.
LOCATION: 1/4 mile south of proposed homesite. t
AGE OF HOUSE: 25 years.
SEPTIC SYSTEM: Yes, consists of 2 septic tanks, 3 leach lines, and dry wells (number and depth
unknown). System functions well and have had no problems during life of it.
OWNER: Moore
ADDRESS: 26680 Mackville Rd.
LOCATION: 300 yds south of proposed homesite.
AGE OF HOUSE: 4 years.
SEPTIC SYSTEM: Yes, consists of a septic tank, 2 leach lines, and 2 dry wells (25 feet deep). System
functions well and have had no problems during life of it.
V. GROUND WATER DEPTH AND TESTING
According to the map of"Lines of Equal Depth to Water in Wells" published spring of 1990 by the San
Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, the depth to groundwater at this location is
140+ feet.
There is an operating well utilized by the existing home on the subject property. Per the requirements
of the Health Department a water sample was obtained from this well on May 19, 1992. The sample was
submitted to the laboratory and tested for the presence of nitrates and DBCP (dibromo chloropropane), a soil
fumigant used in vineyards. A copy of the test results is contained in the Appendix. The results indicate that
DBCP was not detected and that the nitrates are well below the MCL (maximum contaminate level) allowed
by law.
VI. SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTS
Two test pits were excavated in the general area of the proposed septic system. The purpose of the test
pits was to determine the soil profile in the general area and to possibly locate suitable percolating stratum. The
test pits were excavated with a Cat 416 backhoe equipped with a 24 inch bucket. Visual classification of each
soil stratum encountered was made in the field by a civil engineer at the time the test pits were excavated. A
description of each soil encountered is contained in the Appendix as Log of Test Pits. For approximate location
of test pits (TP) see Tentative Parcel Map in the Appendix.
?OE RSO
P 9
a V1
Z W
D
P
4sSOG\
