5.0 INTERVIEWS
5.1 Interview with Property Owners
1
Gerard Eger was interviewed by telephone on September 22, 2011. He stated that he
has owned the Site for approximately 10 years. The majority of the Site is used for
cattle grazing, he indicated, and 46 acres are used as an olive orchard. Mr. Eger stated
that, in the past, the Site was used to raise ostriches, and the two long buildings on the Z l
Site were a chicken ranch 20 years or more ago. He indicated that the small, dry pond
near the center of the southern property line was originally a manure pond associated
with the chicken ranch. The other ponds were not used for manure, to his knowledge.
Mr. Eger indicated that the house on the Site was built approximately 30 years ago and
is currently unoccupied. Small containers of chemicals are stored in the shop, he
indicated. One domestic well and one irrigation well are located on the Site, he stated;
both are at least 30 years old. A second well located adjacent to the domestic well was
sealed with cement prior to his ownership. Mr. Eger stated that the septic system for
the house is located to the northeast of it. An older septic system by the shop has been
destroyed. He indicated that a cement cistern is located near the chicken ranch
buildings.
Mr. Eger was not aware of any fuel tanks, automotive maintenance activities, dumping,
or other environmental issues on the Site or in the vicinity.
6.0 SITE DOCUMENTS
6.1 Environmental Health Department Records
Live Oak requested copies of the EHD well and septic permit files for the Site address
of 29000 North Mackville Road; Tamara Lowe of that office located two permits for the
Site.
