modular, underground, extended aeration treatment units will be used. For reference, a general
^
diagram of this type of unit is presented in Appendix D.
Three separate and independent wastewater treatment units are proposed: 1) one unit for
facilities associated with Phase 1 of development; 2) one unit for the restaurant within Phase 2;
and 3) one unit for the hotel within Phase 2. The units will be configured in parallel, and each
unit will be equipped with a compressorlblower system and aeration controls. The wastewater
treatment capacity of each unit will be approximately 5,000 gpd.
1.3 Drip Dispersal Area
Treated wastewater will flow into a drip dispersal area. Sizing calculations for the proposed
dispersal area are presented in Appendix C. In all of the sizing calculations, a wastewater
application rate of 0.2 gpd/ftZ was assumed and 100 percent reserve capacity was included.
For Phase 1,the required dispersal area will be approximately 31,500 ftZ, including reserve
capacity. The required area for dispersal of wastewater from Phase 1 and Phase 2 developments
combined, with reserve capacity,is 108,800 ftZ. The following minimum required setbacks will
be applied during facilities layout and site design: 10 ft from dispersal field to property
boundaries, 25 ft from dispersal field to buildings, and 100 ft from dispersal field to wells.
r
2.0 PROPOSED IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY
Discussions of proposed construction phasing and incremental permitting efforts are presented
below.
2.1 Phased Construction
Phased construction is proposed for the wastewater treatment units and dispersal area. Treatment
and dispersal infrastructure for Phase 1 of KMC development will be constructed initially. The
Phase 1 estimated wastewater flow, proposed treatment unit capacity, and required dispersal area
are approximately 3,150 gpd, 5,000 gpd, and 31,500 ftZ,respectively.
Wastewater treatment and dispersal infrastructure for Phase 2 of KMC development will be
divided into two components. The first component of Phase 2 will include infrastructure for the
restaurant within Phase 2. The estimated wastewater flow, proposed treatment unit capacity, and
required dispersal area for this element of Phase 2 are approximately 2,880 gpd, 5,000 gpd, and
28,800 ftZ,respectively. The second component of Phase 2 will include infrastructure for the
hotel. The estimated wastewater flow, proposed treatment unit capacity, and required dispersal
area for this element of Phase 2 are approximately 4,850 gpd, 5,000 gpd, and 48,500 ftZ,
respectively. A summary of the proposed phased construction of wastewater treatment and
dispersal facilities is presented in Table 3.
^
KMC—Wastewater Pre-Application Information 3 MTBO15600
. September 2007 n1mt6015600keports\wastewater pre appWinal 091907.doe
