PERCOLATION TESTS:
Percolation test holes were determined to be required on both Parcels A and B to
create two (2) parcels out of the larger single parcel as a result of inquiries made to the
San Joaquin County Public Health Service,Environmental Health Division,
On Friday, August 24, 2001, with hand auguring equipment, I dug two (2)
shallow 8" diameter percolation test holes,PB1 and PB2, 35" and 421/2" inches deep
respectively, on Parcel B. On Saturday, August 25, 2001, with power equipment, the
property owner excavated three shallow 12" diameter percolation test holes,PA,PB3 and
PB4. Percolation Test Hole PA is situate on Parcel A and Percolation Test Holes PB3 and
PB4 are situate in Parcel B. By visual observation percolation test holes PB 1, P2 and PB3
were abandoned from further testing beyond their excavation. Percolation Test Holes,PA
and PB4 were fully tested based on both visual observation and preliminary two-hour
percolation testing. All of these Percolation Test Holes are shown on the "Test Hole
Locations Map".
On Monday, August 27, 2001, the shallow percolation test holes on Parcels A and
B,Percolation Test Holes PA and PB4,repecfully, were presoaked overnight and
percolation readings were conducted on Tuesday,August 28, 2001.
Percolation Test Holes PA and PB4 shown on the attached"Test Hole Locations
Map"were tested over four-hour periods and the results of the four-hour percolation tests
are tabulated below. Percolation Test Hole PA on Parcel A met the standards for leach
field construction but Percolation Test Hole PB4 did not and thus necessitated further
deep hole (25' max. depth)percolation testing.
On Tuesday, September 4, 2001,Hillside Geotechnical Drilling drilled Deep
Percolation Test Holes PB5,PB6, PB7 and PB8 at the locations shown on the attached
"Test Hole Location Map". Deep Percolation Test Hole PB7 is used as the Soil Profile
Test Hole(SPH). Deep Percolation Test Holes PB5, PB6,PB7 and PBS were drilled to
depths of 11.27', 15.3', 23.0' and 13.2', respectively. Because of visual observation and a
preliminary one(1)hour test fast percolation rate determination , only Deep Percolation
Test Hole PB5 was formally tested further beyond initial drilling. The rest of the Deep
Percolation Test Holes were not tested further beyond their initial drilling, except for the
use of Percolation Test Hole PB7 being used as the Soil Profile Test Hole (SPH).
On Tuesday, September 4, 2001,Deep Percolation Test Hole was presoaked over night
and percolation readings were conducted on Wednesday, September 5, 2001.
