July 22,2002
NOA ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT NUMBER LE02-182
VI. INTERVIEWS
r, An attempt was made to obtain historical as well as current information relative to the subject
property from the property owner or key site manager ofthe property. The objective of the interview
process is to obtain information indicating recognized environmental conditions in connection with
the proposed project site. An Environmental Questionnaire and Disclosure Statement was completed
by the property owner for use by NOA Environmental for this report. A copy of the responses have
been included in this report as Appendix C.
Information gleaned from the questionnaire submitted and signed by Mr. Randall Thomas includes
the facts that the current and past land uses for the subject property are that of a gas station, a
residence and vacant property. According to the questionnaire, the property is zoned for R-1. The
owner is aware of the Leaking Underground Storage Tank(LUST) case that is associated with the
subject property and in fact submitted information about the case. The questionnaire also states that
the adjacent properties' land-uses include single family residences. There was no other pertinent
information offered on the questionnaire.
VII. SITE VISIT/ASSESSMENT
A visual reconnaissance of the subject property was conducted prior to the compilation of this report.
Photographs of the subject property are attached to this report as Appendix A. A site
visit/assessment checklist is attached to this report as Appendix B.
The subject property is bounded by East Miner Avenue to the south and Shasta Avenue to the west
(see Photograph 2 & 3). To the south, across East Miner Avenue, is Del Monte Plant #33 (see
Photographs 4 - 6). To the west, across Shasta Avenue, there are single family residences. To the
north and east there are single family residences.
Along the south side of East Miner Avenue, across the street, there are power and/or telephone lines.
One of the poles, southeast of the subject property, has a pole-mounted transformer affixed to it. It
appeared to be in good condition without leaks (see Photograph 7).
A pothole was located along the south boundary of the southwest quadrant of the subject property
(see Photograph 8). The pothole is definitely rectangular in shape and obviously of softer material
than the surrounding area. This pothole is not in the general area of the UST that has been
documented as having been removed from the subject property. In the general area of where the UST
` is documented to have been removed, there is a large area of different colored dirt (see Photograph
9). A house has been built on the designated remainder of the subject property. There were two
storm drains found on the subject property.
12
