i
L
L September 30,2005
NOA Project Number:E05120B
L1.0 GENERAL INFORMATION
L1.1 Soil Sample Purpose,Location, and Depth
4 The basic purpose for collecting soil samples is to:
L 1.) Determine background levels of key constituents in on-site soils.
2.) Identify any impacts to on-site soils which may have occurred as a result of the
` collection and spreading of manure, the above-ground storage tank, and vehicle
maintenance operations on the Site.
LSamples to be analyzed for nitrate impacts from manure will be co-located with ground water
borings. These samples will be collected at various depths dependant on field conditions
encountered.
For the investigation in the vicinity of the above-ground storage tank and likely vehicle maintenance
areas, sample locations will be selected in the field and will be dependant on surficial staining and
field conditions observed at the time of sample collection. These samples will be collected at the
surface, zero to six inches below ground surface (bgs).
1.2 Ground Water Sample Purpose, Location, and Depth
The basic purpose for collecting ground water samples is to:
1.) Determine background water quality.
2.) Identify any impacts to ground water which may have occurred as a result of the
dairy operation on the Site.
3.) Determine an estimate of the ground-water flow direction and ground-water gradient
L below the Site.
The proposed ground water sample locations are indicated on the attached plate. Locations may be
` adjusted as necessary in the field. Samples will be collected from the first ground water encountered.
Ground water in the vicinity of the Site is anticipated to be 35 to 40 feet bgs. Ground water typically
` flows to the northeast in the southwest portion of San Joaquin County.
2 '444
