MOUNTAIN HOUSE PROPOSED MACHADO TENTATIVE MAP 4. ENVIRONMENTAL CHECKLIST
4.13 PUBLIC SERVICES
In 2006, TUSD plans to begin construction of a new school facility along Lammers Road to
accommodate students in grades 6 through 12. TUSD also plans to begin the first phases of
construction of a new high school in the Mountain House Community in 2008 (EDAW,
2005b).
Public Libraries
At present, there are no libraries at the Mountain House Community. The Stockton—San
Joaquin County Public Library(SSJCPL) system provides public library services to —
Mountain House Community. The closest branch library to the project site is located in the
City of Tracy at 20 East Eaton Avenue. This Tracy branch library has 16,900 square feet of
space. —
Childcare Facilities
LESD has contracted with a private provider for childcare services. The facility is housed in
a modular building at Wicklund Elementary School. LESD anticipates that a second
childcare center will be provided at the Neighborhood G elementary school when it is built
(Lebo, 2006).
SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS IDENTIFIED IN 2005 SPIIIEIR
Seven potential impacts involving additional demand for public parkland, K-8 and high
schools, college services, fire protection services, law-enforcement services, and public —
library facilities, were identified in the 2005 SPIIIEIR. All seven were found to be less than
significant.
MITIGATION MEASURES IDENTIFIED IN 2005 SPIIIEIR
Since all the potential impacts were found to be less than significant, no mitigation measures
were identified in the 2005 SPHIEIR.
DISCUSSION REGARDING PROPOSED PROJECT
a) Would the project result in substantial adverse physical impacts associated with the
provision of new or physically altered governmental facilities, need for new or
physically altered governmental facilities, the construction of which could cause
significant environmental impacts, in order to maintain acceptable service ratios,
response times or other performance objectives for any of the public services:
Fire protection?
The proposed project would generate an incremental demand for additional fire protection
staff and facilities. The Mountain House Community Services District (MHCSD) Fire
Protection Plan outlines the planned provision of fire protection services for the Mountain
House Community, including providing for phased increases in staffing and equipment as
4-66
