L
L
October 17, 2005
NOA Project Number: E05120A
results for nitrate as nitrogen indicate that two of three groundwater samples collected at the subject
L• property exceed the MCL of 10 mg/L."
L3.2 Past On-Site Sources of Contamination
No potential above- or below-ground on-site potential or known sources of contamination were
Lidentified from past uses of the site, except for the following.
• The subject property has been used as a dairy since 1950. The property utilizes two manure
ponds, which were installed in 2000, and one water collection and pumping area, as well as
numerous corrals and a manure spreading area. Preliminary results for groundwater samples
collected at two of three locations beneath the subject property were found to exceed the MCL
Lfor nitrate.
• Two co-located former Shell crude oil pipelines cross the subject property. Clayton Group
Services is currently investigating the former pipelines and has identified several locations of
contamination, the largest of which is located at the southwest corner of the manure ponds.
• An above-ground storage tank, fuel dispenser drums, and waste oil drums have been used and
stored on the subject property. These items have since been removed from the property.
• One abandoned septic system is located on the subject property;no records of abandonment
r were found at the EHD. One well was also abandoned with no permit found, but this former
well is reportedly located on a utility easement to the subject property.
L 3.3 Current On-Site Sources of Contamination
No above-or below-ground on-site potential or known sources of contamination were identified from
. current uses of the site, except for the following:
• A debris pile, three automotive batteries, and several drums and containers of unknown
contents remain on the subject property.
• Manure remains on the property in the various corrals, ponds, and spreading area. Accumulated
manure has the potential to cause a methane hazard.
J 0 Several small (less than one foot in diameter) soil stains were observed in the vicinity of the
Lresidential and dairy structures.
• Due to their dates of construction,it is likely that the structures on the subject property contain
lead-based paints and/or asbestos-containing materials.
I
ztArgon Laboratories,October 14,2005,Analysis Report Sheet
11
L
L
