KLEINFELDER <br /> • The produce stand and residential trailer located north of the produce stand, and office trailer <br /> ` and shed associated with the fish ponds all appear to have been built prior to the 1980's and <br /> may contain asbestos containing building materials and/or lead based paints. Kleinfelder <br /> recommends that an asbestos and lead based paint inspection be performed on these <br /> structures by a certified Cal-OSHA qualified inspector, if the structures are to be demolished <br /> prior to site development <br /> Please note the other Conclusions and Recommendations in Kleinfelder's Phase I Report for the <br /> subject site are either general recommendations or statements for the property, related to offsite <br /> ` properties, or were not requested to be addressed by the client at this time. The first two bulleted <br /> items are addressed in this report. The last bulleted item recommending lead and asbestos <br /> sampling will be addressed in a separate report. The following documents Kleinfelder's <br /> findings. <br /> FIELD ACTIVITIES AND ANALYTICAL RESULTS <br /> Field activities included soil sampling in field areas and beneath an old pole-mounted <br /> transformer. Initial sampling was conducted in the vicinity and beneath three AST's in the <br /> building area of the site. Based upon the initial results, soil was excavated beneath the AST's <br /> and sampling conducted within the excavation and excavated soil. <br /> Aericultural Soil Sampling (Field Areas) <br /> ` Between April 10 and April 12, 2003, twenty-five discrete soil samples were collected in the <br /> field areas of the subject site (Plate 2). One of the discrete sample (PMT-1) was collected <br /> beneath an old pole-mounted transformer at a depth of approximately 0 to 6-inches directly <br /> beneath the transformer. Twenty-four (24) discrete soil samples were collected over <br /> approximately 230 acres of the site (eight 3-point discrete subsets Cl through C8). The soil <br /> samples were located in approximately equal portions of the site in an attempt to collect <br /> representative samples of the subject site. The discrete composite subsets were also located in <br /> differing crop areas identified in aerial photos from Kleinfelder's Phase I report. These soil <br /> samples were collected at depths ranging from 0 to 12-inches. Grasses, weeds and miscellaneous <br /> .. vegetation were removed prior to collecting the discrete soil samples. Actual soil sampling <br /> locations were also based on accessibility. <br /> Soil samples were obtained by slide hammering a 2-inch diameter by 6-inch long stainless steel <br /> tube into the soil at the desired sampling depth. The stainless steel tube was then removed from <br /> the boring and sealed with Teflon sheeting and tight-fitting plastic end caps. The samples were <br /> immediately stored in an iced cooler. The samples were transported under chain-of-custody <br /> control to Kleinfelder's office and then transported by courier in a sealed container to a state <br /> certified laboratory for the requested analyses. <br /> The stainless steel sampling equipment and sample tubes were decontaminated between sample <br /> locations with a Liquinox (laboratory-grade detergent) and potable water wash and a distilled <br /> r <br /> 21073/ST03RI067 July 28,2003 <br /> '� 0 2003 Kleinfelder,Inc.
