KLEINFELDER
water rinse. New stainless steel tubes used for sample collection were also decontaminated using
` the same methodology.
` The twenty-five discrete soil samples were submitted under chain-of-custody control to Sequoia
Analytical Laboratories (Sequoia) of Sacramento,California. Sequoia is certified by the State of
California to perform the requested analyses. Twenty-four discrete field samples were
composted into eight 3-point composite samples by the analytical laboratory. These eight
composite samples were analyzed for the following:
♦ Organochlorine Pesticides by EPA Method 8081A
The single discrete sample (PMT-1) collected beneath the pole-mounted transformer was
analyzed for the following:
♦ Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)by EPA Method 8082
The samples were submitted on a standard 10 working day turn-around time (TAT).
No organochlorine pesticides were detected in the eight 3-point composite samples submitted for
analysds at or above laboratory reporting limits. PCBs also were not detected in the single soil
sample collected beneath the pole-mounted transformer.
Sw,18ampiing in AST Area (March 17, 2003}
Kleinfelder initially collected a total of five soil samples in the vicinity of three ABT's on March
17, 2003 (Plate 3). Two of the AST's had an approximate capacity of 2,000-gallons and a
smaller tank located at the ground surface had an approximate capacity of 500 gallons. The
` AST's reportedly contained diesel and gasoline. A total of three hand auger borings were
advanced in the AST area, one beneath each of the AST's in soil stained areas in proximity to the
AST dispenser. The samples were collected at depths ranging from 12-inches to approximately
5%s feet below ground surface (bgs). Each of the five soil samples was noted with soil
discoloration and a strong petroleum type odor. The soil samples were obtained using the same
_ methodology described in the agricultural soil sampling, including cleaning methods.
The two deeper soil samples collected at depths of 5 and 5%2 feet were analyzed for the
` following:
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons referenced as Diesel [TPH-D] by EPA
Method 8015M/3015.
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons referenced Gasoline and benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX)by EPA Method 8260.
• Total lead by EPA Methods
21073/ST03R7067 July 28,2003
©2003 Kleinfeldey Inc.
