SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY, MS-98-18 , PARCEL NOS . 1 , 2 , AND 3
water was encountered in excavating the Soil Profile Test Hole on
July 9 , 1998 to a depth of 10"00" .
On the "Field Percolation Data Sheets" , I have noted the soil
encountered to be gray silty-clay loam to a depth of one ( 1 ) foot
below the ground surface. Between one ( 1 ) foot and ten ( 10) feet ,
below the ground surface I noted the soil to be a brown sandy-loam.
The University of California publication entitled "Soils of
San Joaquin County, California" by Walter W. Weir , dated June 1952 ,
refers to the soil in this general area as "Columbia Silty-Clay
Loam" , light brownish-gray in color , with good surface drainage and
imperfect subsurface drainage . The "Soil Survey of San Joaquin
County , California, United States Department of Agriculture Soil
Conservation Service" , issued October 1992 lists the soil type in
this general area as "Acampo Sandy Loam" , with the surface layer
brown sandy loam to a depth of 19" and pale brown and light
yellowish-brown to a depth of 47" , permeability moderate , water
capacity moderate and o% to 2% slopes .
The San Joaquin County Flood Control And Water Conservation
Map entitled "Lines Of Equal Depth To Water Wells" , dated Fall
1990 , shows the ground water to be in excess of forty (40) feet
below the ground surface .
Percolation Tests :
Two percolation test holes were excavated on each of the three
(3) parcels for a total six (6) excavated percolation test holes .
Three (3 ) were 8" in diameter and three (3 ) were 12" in diameter .
The specific locations and diameters of the six percolation test
holes , Nos . 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A and 313 are shown on the attached
"Property Map" and Detail Map "A" . Three (3 ) percolation test
holes , Nos . 1B, 2A and 3A, were tested formally. Preliminary
testing only was conducted on Percolation test hole Nos . 1A, 2B and
313 and then abandoned and not made an integral part of this report .
The percolation test holes reported on herein involved two ( 2 )
twelve ( 12 ) inch diameter percolation test holes , Nos . 2A and 3A
and a eight (8) inch diameter percolation test hole No . 1B . The
percolation holes tested formally were excavated to a maximum depth
of thirty-four and one half (34 1/2 ) inches .
TEST RESULTS •
Parcel No. Test Hole Percolation Rate 'Minimum Usable
N0 .
