Additional Project Benefits <br /> • Meets County General Plan Objectives, including: "to provide for the <br /> production of extractive resources while protecting people, property, and <br /> the environment from hazards caused by resources extraction." (General <br /> Plan, Vol. 1 , § VI(C), Objective 1 .) <br /> • Jobs: The Project would directly employ at least 25 persons onsite and <br /> would also maintain or create approximately 100 jobs associated with the <br /> County's construction industry. <br /> • Tax Revenues: The Project would generate increased property tax revenue <br /> due to the increased value of the Project site, as well as increased sales tax <br /> revenue. <br /> • Reduced Environmental impacts Compared to Importing Aggregate: A local <br /> supply of aggregate will reduce the negative air quality and traffic impacts <br /> caused by hauling aggregate from sources outside the County. Shorter haul <br /> distances also reduce road maintenance costs to the County caused by <br /> trucks hauling aggregate products from longer distances. <br /> • Reduced Aggregate Prices for County Projects: Transportation costs <br /> constitute a substantial component of aggregate materials prices, and <br /> therefore, a local source would result in lower aggregate prices for any <br /> necessary County road construction/maintenance projects. In California, <br /> 43% of aggregate is consumed for public works projects. (State Geologist, <br /> 2007) <br />
