January 9,2002
NOA ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT NUMBER LE01-416
agricultural chemicals used on the property are those sprayed by the county in its mosquito abatement
program. There was no other pertinent information offered on the questionnaire.
VII. SITE VISIT/ASSESSMENT
_ A visual reconnaissance of the subject property was conducted prior to the compilation of this report.
Photographs of the subject property are attached to this report as Appendix B. A site
visit/assessment checklist is attached to this report as Appendix C.
The subject property is bounded by East Liberty Road to the south,Mackville Road to the east. The
lines that delineate section 34 of township 1 south, range 8 east of the Mount Diablo Baseline and
Meridian bound the subject property to the north and west. The subject property has gently rolling
hills and is used as pasture land. To the north of the subject property there is pasture land. To the
south of the subject property, across East Liberty Road, there is pasture land and two residences.
To the west of the subject property there is a vineyard. To the east of the subject property there are
eight houses with large lots with at least one including some pastureland..
Along the southern boundary of the subject property (East Liberty Road) there are power and/or
phone poles and lines. There are no transformers on these lines, inside the bounds of the subject
property (see Figure 6).
Along the eastern boundary of the subject property (Mackville Road) the lines are on the opposite
side of the street from the subject property. These lines have five transformers servicing the
residences located across Mackville Road from the subject property(see Figures 12 through 15). Off
of these lines one line crosses the street onto the subject property. This line does have a transformer
that services a well which is used to water the cattle. The well and transformer are within a 'battle
staging" area(see Figure 11). NOA contacted Mr. Jim Jarvis, with PG&E, who will contact NOA
with any pertinent information regarding the transformer. If the information provided to NOA by Mr.
Jim Jarvis includes any new, pertinent information an addendum will follow.
Throughout the subject property there are three naturai streams;each of these have been referenced
on the topographic maps at least once. The largest of these flows through the property at a mainly
southwest angle from approximately the center(north-south) of the eastern property boundary (see
Figure 9). Out of this stream a man made pond was created (see Figure 7), according to historical
aerial photographs, around 1963. This pond is probably used for watering the cattle and/or as a fire
prevention resource for the surrounding residences. There are natural, vernal pools on the subject
property, as well(see Figure 8). In at least three places around the subject property there are cattle
feeding stations (see Figure 16). One car battery was observed along the fenceline in the northeast
corner of the subject property. This battery was probably used to electrify the fence(see Figure 17).
There were two other instances of car parts on the subject property, a tire and a muffler located just
12
—
_
