These soils are impermeable at the shallow perc test depth representative of leachlines. At fije
e
feet in depth, there is a wet, sandy clay, which extends down to 11 feet. At this 11 ft depth, reis a moist,well-graded sand extending to 16 feet. From 17 feet to 25 feet, the soils are firm, ery
moist, sandy clays.
PERCOLATION TESTING
Two perc test borings and one exploratory borings were drilled on May 26, 2006. The first boring
was the exploratory drilled to a depth of 25 feet. This boring gave an illustration of both the
shallow and deep soil morphology, as referenced above.
The second boring was drilled to a depth of 42 inches, representative of effluent percolation from
leachlines. A third boring was drilled to a depth of 13.5 feet. It was decided to test this 13.5 ft
depth test boring and not the 25 ft exploratory boring since permeable material was found at this test
depth of 13.5 ft. Percolation test boring locations are illustrated on the Plot Plan.
After drilling the shallow perc test boring, the sidewalls were scored with a pry-bar and the loose
material removed. The deep test boring could not be scored due to its depth. Two inches of pea
gravel was placed at the bottom of boring to prevent scour and three-inch perforated PVC pipe was
inserted in all three test borings. The two perc test borings were pre-saturated on May 29,2006 at
0930 hrs with 12 inches of clear water in accordance with EHD regulations.
On May 30,2006, 1030 hrs, percolation testing commenced for the two borings. Post-soak status for
each test boring is illustrated in the Table below. Since standing water was measured in the shallow
test boring, EHD Perc Test Procedure#1 was conducted for this boring. No water remained in the
deeper test boring, therefore, EHD Test Procedure#2 was conducted.
The last half hour of the tests were witnessed by Ted Tasiopoulos, R.E.H.S. of the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department.
