Based on this source,it appears that,of the agricultural chemicals reportedly
applied to the subject property, only those containing carbof Iran and lambda-cyhalothrin are RUPs.
I The U.C.Davis Extension Toxicology Network(EXTOXNET)web site"was consulted for additional
L information on these chemicals.
L According to EXTOXNET,carbof Tran is a broad spectrum carbamate pesticide. Liquid formulations
of this chemical have been classified as RUPs because of their acute oral and inhalation toxicity to
humans. Carbofuran is slightly to very mobile in soil(depending on the soil type)and has a half-life in
L soil of 30 to 120 days. It is soluble in water and has a high potential for groundwater contamination
(Pesticide Information Profile--PIP, 1996).
L According to EXTOXNET,lambda cyhalothrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide and acaricide used
to control a wide range of pests. It is moderately toxic in the technical form, but may be highly toxic
via some routes in formulation. Lambda cyhalothrin is moderately persistent in the soil environment,
L with a field half-life close to 30 days in most soils (PIP,2001).
L
L11U.S.Environmental Protection Agency(EPA),June 2003,Restricted Use Products(RUP)Report.
http://mtoxnet.orst.edu/gbindex.htmL
1.
12 University of California,Davis,2004,Extension Toxicology Network(EXTOXNET),
toxnet.orst.edu/gbindex.htmL
L 7 "44
L
