No wells are
L depicted within one-quarter mile of the subject property.
i 3.1.8 Site Reconnaissance
L
A visual reconnaissance of the subject property was conducted on March 18,2005. Photographs of the
L subject property are attached to this report as Appendix B. A site visit/assessment checklist is attached
to this report as Appendix D.
LThe subject property was observed to be a flat,rectangular,30-acre parcel. A building pad was under
L construction at the northern end of the property. An equipment pad for the adjacent farming operation
to the north was observed at the northeast corner of the property. The remainder of the property was
I observed to be rice field crossed by an irrigation canal and an underground water pipeline. An irrigation
L water sump was observed along the eastern property line.
Farming equipment was stored at the equipment pad. Debris was observed along the boundaries of the
6 pad, including broken concrete,a wood pile, and several tires. A few small oil stains less than one foot
across were observed within the pad, and a slight oily sheen was observed in puddles of water within
L the pad. The soil within the pad was discolored red and white in several places. The ground surface
was wet at the time of the site visit, making the definitive identification of soil staining difficult.
Chemical weed kill was evident along the field roads that bounded and crossed the subject property.
LWhite discoloration of the soil was observed on these field roads.
Surrounding properties were surveyed at the time of the site reconnaissance. To the north of the subject
property was rice field and a rural residence with a shop. Four above-ground storage tanks, several
drums, at least 100 tires, and miscellaneous debris were observed in the vicinity of the shop. To the
6 west of the property were rice fields and fallow fields, followed by new rural residences. To the south
L of the subject property was a rice field. To the east of the property was a rural residence with horses
and rice fields.
L
LI3Califomia Department of Oil,Gas,and Geothermal Resources,2005,well map W5-3.
L '004g
L
