2. Conductor casing(as needed)shall be ASTM A 139 Electric-fttsion(arc)-welded steel pipe
with a minimum tensile strength of 30,000 psi.
3. Conductor casing(as needed) shall be leak proof internal and external flush threads on
each joint for connecting.
4. Only casing that has a uniform wall thickness, tensile strength, and threaded ends
machined directly to the casing will be allowed.
5. Conductor casing(as needed)shall be a minimum 14 inch diameter with a wall thickness
of'/4 inch.
6. Teflon based thread compound may be used to lubricate the threads.
a. The use of any other thread compound is prohibited.
7. The well conductor casing shall (as needed)consist of new, 14 inch nominal carbon steel
conforming to AWWA C200 and ASTM Al 39.
8. Conductor casing, if necessary, shall extend to the depth of the sanitary seal.
C. PVC Casing:
1. The well casing shall be new, 6-inch diameter PVC SDR 17 Class 250, fabricated in
lengths not less than twenty feet (20'), except where a shorter section of casing is better
suited for the total depth or surface completion.
2. All perforated casing shall comply with specifications ASTM F480, NSF 61, ASTM
D2241. For preliminary estimates, perforations shall be of factory mill-slot variety
aligned vertically with the axis of the casing. The slots shall be no less than 3 inches in
length with an aperture width of 0.032 inch. The dimensions of the slot size openings and
screen length will be determined by the Engineer on the basis of the field conditions
revealed by the borehole and the grain size of the filter pack material.
3. Section ends shall be machined flat perpendicular to the axis of the casing and shall not
vary more than 0.010 inch at any point from a true plane at right singles to the axis of the
casing.
D. Casing Guides:
I. Casing guides(centralizers)shall be fabricated from PVC 2 inches wide by 3/8 inch thick
by 2 feet in length. The casing guides shall be of the same physical and chemical
properties of the corresponding casing or screen section.
2. Four (4) casing guides shall be spaced equally around the circumference of the well at
intervals of 100 feet. beginning at the bottom of the casing.
E. Filter Pack:
I. The type, size, gradation, and uniformity of sand shall be determined by the Engineer
depending on field conditions revealed by the borehole. For preliminary estimate
purposes, the filter pack shall be#8 Sand Pack.
2. All filter pack material shall be hard,water-worn,and washed clean of silt, sand, dirt, and
foreign matter. Gushed gravel will not be accepted. The specific gravity of the material
shall not be less than 2.5 as determined by ASTM D854.
3. The depth interval for the filter pack shall be determined by the I:nincrr un the basis of
field conditions revealed by the borehole.
F. Grout:
1. Grout used to construct Ahe annular sanitary seal shall be a ten sack cement-sand grout
mixture. The cement shall meet the requirements, including the latest revisions,of ASTM
C150 Standard Specification for Portland Cement Type 11, or an approved equivalent.
Any additives to the mixture shall meet the requirements, including the latest revisions,of
GRINDSTONE JOE'S SUMMARY OF WORK
REPLACEMENT WELL 01 11 00-4 June 25,2019
