To: San Joaquin County Planning Commission 12/12/00
POC- Tina Wehrmeister
(209) 468-8477
Fax (209) 468-3163
Application Number up-00-22
From: bon Angle
17693 Enterprise Rd
Escalon, Co. 95320
Subject; Youth Soccer Complex
This complex seems like a real nice place for kids to participate in
soccer, and I commend the concept. We moved here in 1977 because it was
quiet and peaceful, animals were everywhere, horses, cows, coyotes,
pheasants, quail, etc., all kinds of animals and birds. I have no wish of
failure for the project concept. I have several grandkids that live also on
Enterprise Road and I'm sure that they could benefit from the complex, be it
in another place.
This has always been an agricultural area with a smattering of homes
and virtually everyone in this area raises crops or animals. To allow a project
such as this may not only destroy the serenity of our area, (the least of the
problems), but create agricultural hardships for the surrounding farmers.
There are many of us that have regular jobs in addition to farming and rely on
the weekends to work our fields. How are we going to get permission from
the county to apply chemicals and restricted pesticides due to the proximity
of the soccer complex. I foresee problems such as people going through and
around restricted sprayed areas just to get to the complex. Families and kids
on bikes will illegally use the South San Joaquin Irrigation pipeline road for
rear access to the complex. I know that will happen, parents will tell there
kids to stay off the Highway and the only way they can get there is using the
irrigation pipeline road or the open main canal coming from the east. Sure, its
safer to stay off the highway but how about drowning or chemical poisoning.
As a neighbor of the proposed complex I am convinced that this facility
will severely increase traffic congestion to the point of irreparable damage to
human life. It is conceivable that 12 teams or more and their families could
