L 1..
LNovember 4,2005
NOA Project Number: E05135A
L 3.5 Current Off-Site Sources of Contamination
No above-or below-ground potential or known sources of contamination to the subject property were
f identified from current uses of the surrounding properties, except for the following:
L
• The Grenwal's Market at 4100 Fremont Street is the only open contamination case at the
Lpresent within one quarter mile of the subject property.
j 4.0 EVALUATION OF IDENTIFIED CONTAMINATION SOURCES
L
The property has been in residential use since the 1960s;agricultural chemical used prior to this may
remain on the property. No evidence was found, however,to indicate that the chemicals were applied
it inappropriately.
The current household debris, tires, drums, and battery may leach hazardous chemicals into the
L subsurface; at the time of the inspection,no staining was apparent near these locations.
L Lead-based paint if digested may lead to an increased chance of lead poisoning. Care should be taken
especially if the paint is peeling and is accessible to small children.
L Septic systems may be used for inappropriate disposal of hazardous substances. In this case, there is
no evidence to suggest that the septic systems may be contaminant pathways on the subject property
or vicinity.
LThe Grenwal's Market at 4100 Fremont Street is the only open contamination case at the present within
one quarter mile of the subject property. The information on the Geotracker web site" for this site
indicates that ground water is at 58 feet below the ground surface and the samples analyzed on April
L 29,2005 indicated that the levels of hydrocarbons are below the detection limits on site. The subject
property is at least 800 feet away; therefore, the release at 4100 Fremont Street does not appear to
Limpact the subject property at this time.
5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
L
The property has been in residential use since the early 1960s. The construction of the residence on the
property and use of the land for residential purposes since construction will have obscured any possible
chemical residue left from the historical uses of agricultural chemicals on the subject property prior to
the 1960's.
LThe household debris, tires, battery, mattresses and drums should be characterized and properly I
" http://w .geotrackcr.sw cb.ca.gov/ J
10
L .*44
1
L
