Thompson & Folger East Page 11 of 13
Our Project Number: LES080593
February 30, 2009
• Two large sulfuric acid containers are located on the property near the wells on parcel -
05 & -15.
i/-4 Past Off-Site Sources of Contamination
No above- or below-ground off-site potential or known sources of contamination were identified
from past uses of the surrounding properties, except for the following:
• Surrounding properties have been used for agriculture in the past; agricultural chemicals
may have been applied to these properties.
• A closed leaking underground storage tank case was identified within one quarter mile
' of the subject property.
ViS Current Off-Site Sources of Contamination
No above- or below-ground off-site potential or known sources of contamination were identified
from current uses of the surrounding properties, except for the following:
• Surrounding properties are used for agriculture; agricultural chemicals may be applied to
these properties.
• An above ground storage tank was observed on the adjacent property to the north of
parcel -15.
4.0 EVALUATION OF IDENTIFIED CONTAMINATION SOURCES
Agricultural chemical residues may remain on the property. No evidence was found, however,
to indicate that the chemicals were applied inappropriately.
If water wells are not properly operated and maintained, they can serve as contamination
conduits to groundwater. In this case, there is no evidence to suggest that the wells may be
contaminant pathways on the subject property or vicinity however the oil staining around the
well heads at parcels -15, -08. -09 and -12 should be cleaned up.
., Sulfuric acid is a hazardous chemical which has the potential to impact the environment. It
produces toxic gases and vapors and reacts vigorously when exposed to water. Sulfuric acid is
also classified as a carcinogen and is highly corrosive to skin. Caution should be exercised
when using this chemical. In this case, other than close proximity to the well head, there was
no evidence to suggest this chemical has been used inappropriately.
The leaky underground storage tank located on the adjacent property to the east at 7001 Rond
Road, no longer appears to pose an environmental threat to the subject property based on the
supervised-clean-un by the CRWQCB and case closed status
The above-ground storage tank on the adjacent property is not within a secondary containment
area. Any and all leaks could potentially impact the soil and water in the adjoining irrigation
902 Industrial Way• Lodi.CA 95240•209367.3701 •Fax 209.369.4228 02009 Neil O.Anderson 6 Aesocinrrs.Lrc.
