September 28, 2004
NOA Project Number: E04106A
3.1.9 Pacific Gas &Electric
Mr.Eric Nolan of PG&E was contacted on September 27,2004 regarding the PCB content of the
` pole-mounted transformers on and near the eastern property boundary. Mr.Nolan indicated that
he was not able to find records in the PG&E database for these transformers.
Ms.Linda Harkins of Stockton PG&E has stated that the only way to determine the PCB content
of transformers without blue PCB-free or silver retrofit stickers is to have them tested, a service
which PG&E will provide for a charge (personal communication, March 5, 2004).
3.2 Past On-Site Sources of Contamination
` No potential above-or below-ground on-site potential or known sources of contamination were
identified from past uses of the site, except for the following:
• Paraquat was applied to the subject property in 2003. Paraquat is highly toxic and
extremely persistent.
• Because of the age of the structures on the subject property, it is possible that lead-based
paints and/or asbestos-containing materials were used in their construction.
3.3 Current On-Site Sources of Contamination
No above-or below-ground on-site potential or known sources of contamination were identified
from current uses of the site, except for the following:
` • A 200-gallon above-ground fuel tank is used for farming operations.
• Agricultural chemicals are stored, mixed, and applied on the property.
• Minor soil stains were observed in the vicinity of the barn.
• One pole-mounted transformer is located along the eastern property line.
11
