PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION " ° Z<
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor • Stockton, CA 95202
209/468-3420
PAT MEEKS
KEVIN MEEKS
PACIFIC AUTO CENTER
25355 HWY 99
ACAMPO CA 95220
DEC 011999
RE: PACIFIC AUTO CENTER SITE CODE: 508378
25355 HWY 99
ACAMPO CA 95220
Background
Three underground storage tanks (UST) were removed at the above-referenced site in
1978. No soil samples were collected at the time of the UST removal. A site
assessment project was conducted between January 25, 1999 and February 25, 1999 by
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE). Analytical results of a grab groundwater
sample collected at 77 feet below surface grade (bsg) from Boring #1 (B-1) in the
vicinity of the former USTs were 13 parts per million (ppm) of Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g), and 262 parts per billion (ppb), 1,471 ppb, 672 ppb,
and 3,618 ppb of Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Total Xylenes (BTEX),
respectively. The site was subsequently placed in the Local Oversight Program (LOP)
for oversight of the investigation and remediation of the petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination at the site.
Five borings were drilled and 3 monitoring wells (MW) were installed between
February 26, 1999 and March 11, 1999. Analytical results of the groundwater samples
collected from B-3/MW-2 were 41,000 ppb TPH-g, 280 ppb, 1,700 ppb, 430 ppb, and
5,600 ppb BTEX, respectively, and 47 ppb Tert-Butyl Alcohol (TBA), and from
B5/MW-3 were 37,000 ppb TPH-g, 600 ppb, 1,900 ppb, 170 ppb, and 6,200 ppb BTEX,
and 18 ppb TBA as reported in the Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report
dated April 7, 1999 prepared by AGE. The vertical and lateral extent of contamination
has not been determined at this site. A domestic well of unknown construction is
located approximately 34 feet north of the former UST location. A water sample from
the domestic well was collected for analysis, but analytical results were not included in
the report. On October 1, 1999, San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division (PHD/EHD) was informed by AGE that due to a
financial dispute with the property owner they will not provide any more sample
results or perform any further sampling of the monitoring wells.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
