Munro Orchard Subdivision
Page 4
3.5 feet stratum consisting of a brown sand that ranged from fine to coarse in size was located at
various depths in the brown sandy lean clay. This soil profile stayed reasonably consistant except
for lot 4 in which a clayey gravelly coarse sand was present in lieu of the sand stratum. Overall the
sand stratum tended to have a northwest to southeast trend with an apparent northeasterly dip. For
a more detailed description of the soils encountered see the log of test holes.
A deep percolation test was performed on.each of the 6 lots. A shallow test was performed
on lot I to confirm that the surface soils had a relatively low permeability to oppose the sole use of
leach lines. Test holes were four and one half inches in diameter. Two inches of gravel was placed
in the bottom of each hole, followed by a two inch diameter perforated pipe backfilled with gravel.
Each of the tests holes were filled with water 24 hours prior to running the tests. The last half hour
of the tests readings were witnessed by a county health official and the test data obtained is enclosed
in the appendix. The percolation rates have been adjusted to account for the gravel and pipe backfill.
Calculations for adjustments are on the test data sheets.
A summary of the test results is presented next:
Diameter of Depth of
Test No. Hole in. Hole Percolation Rate (min/in)
PT-1 4.5 17.5 2.4
PT-la 4.5 3.0 160
PT-2 4.5 17.0 3.1
PT-3 4.5 10.0 1.8
PT-4 4.5 11.5 2.0
PT-5 4.5 12.5 8.3
PT-6 4.5 12.5 4.2
VII CONCLUSION
Based on the results of the percolation tests, the soil profile, and the performance of the septic
systems in the area, it is our opinion that the lots resulting from the propsed subdivision should be
pE RS01
 N
Z W
p A
r
4'rSOL
