No problems with system during
the past years.
V GROUND WATER DEPTH AND TESTING
There is an operating well at the Cook/Parson residence. According to Ms. Cook, the
depth of the well is not known, but well depth is estimated at approximately 75 feet.
According to the map of Lines of Equal Depth to Water In Wells, published Fall of
1989, by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, the
depth to ground water is between 30 and 40 feet. Due to recent drought conditions,
.. the lower depth of ground water is probable.
A water sample was obtained from the Cook/Parson residence at 3:20 p.m. on 11-19-
93. The sample was submitted to the laboratory and tested for the presence of E.D.B.
and D.B.C.P.,which are soil fumigants used in orchards and vineyards. A copy of the
test results is contained in the appendix. The results indicate no fumigants were
detected.
VI SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTS
Two test pits were excavated to depth of 10 feet, adjacent to the existing leach line, to
determine the soil profile. The test pit was excavated with a Cat back hoe equipped
with a 24 inch bucket. Visual classification of each soil stratum encountered the test
pits was made by a Registered Civil Engineer. A description of each soil encountered is
contained in the appendix.
The surface soil consisted of tan silty sand with decreasing amounts of silts as the depth
increased. The surface soil was underlaid with a stratum of tan well graded sand.
A cemented sand layer exists at a depth of 8 feet and is approximately 6 inches deep.
No perched water was encountered during test pit examinations. Two percolation tests
were performed adjacent to the existing leach line. 6" diameter test holes were
excavated to a depth of 3 feet. The test holes were filled with water 24 hours prior to
running the test. Test data is contained in the appendix. Test results show percolation
rates of 4.44 and 2.42 minutes per inch.
PAGE 2
