08/12/05 11:20 BASIC RESOURCE + 2094683163 NO.707 P03
MUNN&
RECLAMATION PLAN
PAGE TWO
D. Soil Agsessment
1. Topsoil availability of 10+/_feet as shown on Reclamation plans.
2. Soil Profile: Classification of the soil type is predominately Hanford Sand Loam and
Hanford Fine Sandy Loam with Static Index Ratings of 100 and 95 respectively.
Ref:Soils of San Joaquin County California and USDA-NRCS Soil Survey Division,
Official Soil Series Description, 10/1999,
3. Topsoil in its current state and after displacement is suitable for growing almond and
walnut trees upon replacement. The Hanford series consists of very deep, well
drained soils that formed on moderately course textured alluvium dominantly from
granite. The soils are well drained; negligible to low runoff, moderately rapid
permeability. Hanford soils are used for growing a wide range of fruits, vegetables,
and general farm crops. All topsoil at the project site will be retained on site and
used for project reclamation back to almond orchard.
E Veeetation/Wildlife-
1. Biological setting does not apply to this project due to the many years of farming.
2. Project is surrounded by existing orchards.
3. Due to years of farming there are no plants, amphibians or fish on-site. Only occasional
birds and rodents/varmints may frequent the site.
4. No known unique, critical and important habitat types within the site or adjacent to site due
to many continuing years of farming.
5. No impact due to mining operations. Virtually no wildlife exists due to farming.
6. None due to continuous farming over many years.
F. InIn-strea`Mining,
Subsections I-8 dose not apply to this project.
G. /fir Resources/Climatolotty:
1. General climate description: Climate in the area relatively mild. Rainfall averages 10-15
inches per year. The average low temperature for the winter ranges from 37-41 degrees
Fahrenheit, while summer high temperatures can average between 88-94 degrees
Fahrenheit. Snowfall is not relevant to this region. Ref: Western Regional Climate Center.
2. No air quality permits are necessary due to excavation only Adjacent processing plant has
active permit,HN-566, issued by San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control
Control District.
H. Land Use7 Site has been in agriculture for 28+/-years. Currently open ground pending
approval ofthis proposed project. Site will be reclaimed back to an almond orchard.
1. Aes a 'cs• Due to surrounding orchards, this project will not be visible to the general public.
