Other Information (continued)
Miscellaneous
This project will allow applicant to continue sand and gravel extraction in an area which has had
mining activity for the past 50-plus years. The processing facility has been permitted for the past 48
years. There will be no substantial change from the daily operations as they currently exist. Night
lighting will not be necessary for this operation. There will be no permanent structures. Noxious
weeds are controlled due to farming practices. Excavation does not cause health or sanitary hazards
and does not create conditions which will cause the breeding of mosquitoes, rodents, or other pests.
Applicant/Operator will participate in Annual Inspections performed.
III. DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED RECLAMATION
A. Subseauent Use(s)
All disturbed land will be reclaimed back to farming capability; proposed to be an almond or walnut
orchard with sprinkler irrigation. All property owners of possessory interest have been provided a
copy of the proposed project and reclamation plan.
B. Reclamation Schedule
Project is designed in three phases. Reclamation is continuous and concurrent with mining. Almond
or walnut trees will be planted in ±1 5-to f30-acre increments as excavation allows. Each phase will
be totally reclaimed within two years after mining ceases. Phases are shown on the Reclamation Plan
attached.
C. Post Mining Topopraphv
Post reclamation topography, drainage, benches, roads, cross sections through slopes, cuts, fills,
original ground, post-mining surface, geologic conditions, reclaimed surface, and other pertinent
features are shown on the attached Reclamation Plan. Slopes will not exceed 2:1, and stabilization
should not be a problem. Slopes will be seeded with resident hybrid erosion control seed mix to
control slope erosion prior to planting of orchard.
D. Impoundments
No impoundments are proposed for this project.
E. Draina¢e
Drainage is not a problem for this project. Water is naturally absorbed in the soil and/or controlled by
berms and slopes. Planting resident hybrid erosion control seed mix prior to total reclamation in each
phase will minimize erosion of disturbed land and sedimentation. Planting of almond or walnut trees
will occur in tl5-to t30-acre increments as excavation allows.
