NOW
Witt Ranch Property
Page No. 3
V. GROUND WATER DEPTH AND TESTING
Ground water was encountered at a depth of 5.0 feet in each of the soil profile holes. Ground
water depths can and will fluctuate seasonally.
An operating domestic water well is located adjacent to the existing house in the southeast
corner of the property and an operating agricultural well is located in the northeast corner of the
property. Water samples were obtained from both wells on January 22, 1998. The samples were
submitted to the laboratory and tested for the presence of DBCP and nitrates. A copy of the test
results is contained in the appendix. Test results indicate that DBCP was not detected in either wells
and nitrate was not detected in the agricultural well and was detected at 2.2 mg/L in the house well,
which is below the Maximum Contamination Level (MCL) of 45 mg/L.
V. SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTS
Four soil profile holes to determine the soil profile in the general area were excavated to
depths of 8 to 10 feet. One hole was located on each of the proposed parcels. The holes were
located in areas of planed or potential home sites. For approximate location of the test holes(PT)see
the Location Map in the Appendix. The soil profile holes were logged by an engineer and a
description of the soils encountered in the holes is presented in the Log of Test Holes summary
contained in the Appendix. Generally, the upper 3 to 6 feet of material encountered in the test holes
consisted of a organic clayey sandy silt which was underlain by a silty and sandy clay that continued
to the maximum depth explored. In test hole PT-C, a 2-foot stratum of silty sand was present at the
surface. For a more detailed description of the soils encountered see the Log of Test Holes summary.
The soil profile holes show subsurface conditions at the date and locations indicated and it
is not warranted that they are.representative of subsurface conditions at other locations and times.
Due to the presence of silty soils in the upper stratum, 3.0 feet deep percolation tests were
performed at each of the test hole locations. Four 8.0-inch diameter test holes were excavated and
2-inches of gravel was placed in the bottom of each hole. A 2.0-inch diameter perforated pipe was
then placed in each hole and backfilled with gravel. The test holes were filled with water 24 hours
prior to running the tests. The last half hours of the test readings were witnessed by a county health
official and the test data obtained is enclosed in the appendix. The percolation rates have been
adjusted to account for the gravel and pipe backfill. Calculations for this adjustment are on the test
data sheets. A summary of the test results is presented next:
?pERSO
D +
Z W
d
P
4SS0r
