February 28, 2005
APR - 2005
Mr. Ben Hulse
4120 Five ENVIRONMENT HEALTH
Mile Drive PERiIT/SERVICES
Stockton, CA 95919
WILDLANDS, INC.
Re: Hog Island Delta Center
Dear Mr. Hulse:
This letter report describes the methods and results of a background investigation and
initial survey for biological resources present at the proposed Hog Island Delta Center
Project. The project is located west of Stockton, within the Stockton Deep Water
Channel, San Joaquin County, California.
METHODS
Prior to initiating field surveys a records search of both the California Natural Diversity
Database (NDDB) (NDDB 2004); records search of the Terminous U.S. Geologic
Service 7'h minute quadrangle maps) and the California Native Plant Society's (CNPS)
Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants of California (Skinner and Pavlik 1994) was
performed to identify any known occurrences of rare, threatened, or endangered species
within the project area.
Following the background investigation, associate biologist Bill Roper and field
biologists Jacob Robinson and Sean Munson conducted a survey of the proposed Hog
Island project on December 15, 16, and 17, 2004 to identify sensitive biological resources
that may be affected by the proposed island interpretive center. All wildlife and plant
species encountered were recorded in field notes.
RESULTS
Background Investigation
The records search of the California Department of Fish and Game's NDDB did not
reveal the presence of any known occurrences of rare, threatened, or endangered species
or sensitive habitats within the Hog Island Delta Center site (CNDDB 2004). A search of
the CNPS electronic database did not contain any known occurrences of special-status
plant species at or adjacent to the project site.
Plant Communities
3855 Atherton Road + Rocklin,CA 95765 + (916)435-3555 + Fax(916)435-3556
