Soil Suitability Study--APN: 229— 160—01--Parcel Nos. A and B; 11.53 & 10.71Acres,respectively-- 7 PERCOLATION TESTS: Both Parcels A and B were tested and the percolation rate determinations were observed by E.H.D. representatives. The parcels are shown on the attached"Parcel Map". Both shallow and deep percolation tests were conducted and are reported on in this study. On March 21, 2002, I excavated Shallow Percolation Test A4. Deep Percolation Test Holes A1, B1 and A5 also were excavated to the depth and dimensions shown on the attached "Percolation Data Sheets"for these test holes on that date. The property owner excavated Deep Percolation Test Holes A 1, B 1 and A5, as well as Deep Percolation Test Holes A2 and A3 with a backhoe under my supervision on March 21, 2002. I excavated Shallow Percolation Test Holes A6 and B2 on March 31, 2002. The Soil Profile Test Hole, SP, was also excavated to a depth of twelve(12) feet on March 21, 2002. Also on March 21, 2002, an E.H. D. representative was scheduled to observe the percolation rate determination for Percolation Test Hole B 1 on March 22, 2002 after the test hole had been presoaked overnight on March 21, 2002. On March 21, 2002, I conducted a preliminary shallow percolation test on Percolation Test Hole A4, on Parcel A, as noted on the attached"Field Percolation Data Sheet" on March 21, 2002 which did not conform to established S.J. County standards as is noted on the "Field Percolation Sheet" for that day and it was not observed by an E.H.D. representative. However, a shallow percolation test for Parcel A was conducted later and observed by an E.H. D. representative on 03/31 and 04/01/02 on Percolation Test Hole A6 and the resultant percolation rate determination is contained on the "Field Percolation Data Sheet", dated 03/31/02 and 04/01/02. As noted above, the property owner also excavated percolation Test Holes A2 and A3, on Parcel A, with a backhoe under my supervision on March 21, 2002. These two test holes were not tested beyond their excavation due to the observed clay content and density encountered in excavating the holes in the field. An observed percolation rate determination was made on March 22, 2002 for Percolation Test Hole B 1 and recorded on "Field Percolation Data Sheet", dated 03/21 and 22/02. Rains prevented an observed percolation rate determination until Percolation Test Hole Al could be presoaked and tested and reported on until 03/26 and 27/02. Shallow Percolation Test Hole B2 was presoaked on 03/31/02. The percolation rate was observed and determined on 04/01/02.
