14 April 2004
AGE-NC Project No.04-1143
March 2002 PUR:
SURpHTAC adjuvant: Application(2.50 gallons,2 pints per 100 gallons). Intended to enhance the
penetration of the leaf surface for many fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, defoliants, desiccants
and miticides. SURpHTAC adjuvant reduces the adverse effects that alkaline waters have on the
spray solution and provides additional wetting of the sprayed foliage. This is a corrosive agent
composed of monocarbamide dihydrogensulfate (AMADS) and Octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol
(OPPEOE) and can be harmful or fatal if swallowed; ingestion may result in severe irritation and
burns to the mouth , throat and digestive tract.
This material has not been identified as a carcinogen.
Lorsban. (4E)Dursban (chlorpyrifos): A General Use Pesticide;not restricted -Application(7.50
gallons, 1.50 pints per acre) -Chlorpyrifos is a broad-spectrum organophosphate insecticide;while
originally used primarily to kill mosquitoes, it is no longer registered for this use. Chlorpyrifos is
effective in controlling cutworms,corn rootworms,cockroaches,grubs,flea beetles, flies,termites,
fire ants, and lice. It is used as an insecticide on grain, cotton, field, fruit, nut and vegetable crops,
and well as on lawns and ornamental plants. Chlorpyrifos is moderately toxic to humans;poisoning
from chlorpyrifos may affect the central nervous system, the cardiovascular system, and the
respiratory system; it is a skin and eye irritant. It is not considered to be mutagenic, teratogenic or
carcinogenic.
Chlorpyrifos is moderately persistent in soils;the half-life of chlorpyrifos in soil is usually between
60 and 120 days,but can range from 2 weeks to over 1 year,depending on the soil type,climate,and
other conditions.Chlorpyrifos adsorbs strongly to soil particles and it is not readily soluble in water;
it is therefore immobile in soils and unlikely to leach or to contaminate groundwater. Research
suggests that this insecticide is unstable in water, and the rate at which it is hydrolyzed increases with
temperature, decreasing by 2.5- to 3-fold with each 10° C drop in temperature.
January 2002 PUR:
DIREX. (80DF (diuron : A General Use Pesticide(GUP). Application(100 pounds, 2.50 pounds
per acre)-The U.S.EPA classifies it as toxicity class III-slightly toxic-Diuron is a substituted urea
herbicide used to control a wide variety of annual and perennial broadleaf and grassy weeds,as well
as mosses. It is used on non-crop areas and many agricultural crops such as fruit, cotton, sugar cane,
alfalfa, and wheat. Diuron works by inhibiting photosynthesis. It may be found in formulations as
wettable powders and suspension concentrates.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
