SITE HISTORY
It is our understanding that based on a 1953 aerial photograph,
the City of Tracy notified Beck Development of the possibility of
a storage tank being buried on property owned by Beck Development
southeast of Tracy, California. In response to this possibility
and Beck's investigation, the following sequential information
has been developed:
1 . The storage facility was built and used during
WWII to store bunker fuel for the U.S. Navy. The
facility was operated by Southern Pacific Pipeline
Company .
2 . In 1946 the property was sold to a Mr. Hackman to
be used for agricultural purposes .
3. The above mentioned aerial photograph was taken in
1953.
4. During the period of 1953-1954 (assumed to be
after the 1953 photograph), there was an uncon-
trolled fire that burned for two to three weeks
before being extinguished. A person interviewed
by Beck Development thought there was still
approximately two to three feet of oil-water in
the storage tank after the fire.
2
